Happy Autumn Equinox

Happy Autumn Equinox

Today is the Autumn Equinox, also known as Mabon or Second Harvest. It’s one of the eight holidays on the Celtic Wheel of the Year that you see at the beginning of my novel Circle of Nine. Autumn is definitely one of my favorite times of the year, but I do get a little sad thinking that this day represents equal hours of light and dark and from now on the days just get shorter as we descend into winter. Brrrrr.

Memories & Milestones & a Holy Mountain in Ireland

Memories & Milestones & a Holy Mountain in Ireland

This has been a hard week for me, full of memories and milestones. I haven’t been overly private about my family’s loss of two of my sisters to cancer. I’ve even written about how the death of my second sister spurred me into action on my writing, clearly reminding me that we have limited time here on this earth.

Harry Potter World - A Wild Ride!

Harry Potter World - A Wild Ride!

I’ve been doing a lot of reading and traveling and not a lot of writing. That will change very, very soon. Like Today!! (This counts as writing, right??)

My family has recently been to Harry Potter World. Wow – just wow! I can’t imagine how wonderful it must be for JK Rowling to see the world she envisioned first come to life in movie form and then as these intricate theme parks. Our family has spent countless hours enjoying everything Harry Potter and were finally able to make the trip to Orlando!

Quebec City & Beyond

Quebec City & Beyond

This summer our family decided to take separate boys’ and girls’ vacations. We NEVER do this! But, when my husband and son decided to climb Devils Tower in Wyoming, my daughter and I decided to do something different and settled on Quebec City for our trip.

Blessed Summer Solstice!

Blessed Summer Solstice!

In 2007, our family of five embarked on a month-long trip to Europe, kicking it off with a visit to Stonehenge on the Summer Solstice.  Our kids – age 17, 11, and 9 – thought this was a grand adventure. I would have to say that the Stonehenge visit was most definitely more educational than we expected!

Here's a photo of what the crowd is like around Stonehenge during the celebration.

It's May!

It's May!

I’ve been deep in a final round of edits on my teen novel Circle of Nine – Beltany, so deep that I barely realized that today is MAY DAY!!  (Which is nearly sacrilegious in a Pagan sort of way, given that the heart of this novel is the May Day Celebration.)
